THE BAIKAL PROJECT HAVE BEEN AWARDED TWO NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS

Having completed the Dual Guinness World Record attempt in February 2020 and after eight months and over 20 Gigabytes of evidence verification by the Guinness World Record Evidence Review Team, The Baikal Project are delighted to announce that they have been officially awarded two new Guinness World Records.

Guiness World Records for The Baka Project

Gary O’Keeffe now officially holds the World Record for the Greatest Distance Driving on Ice in One Week at 798.3 Km.
and
Kevin Emans on behalf of The Baikal Project Team holds the World Record for the Longest Motorcycle Journey on Ice at 743.43 Km.

A group of international adventure motorcyclists go on an epic journey to one of the most fascinating natural, cultural & historical landmarks in the world – Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.

6 Motorcyclists from Ireland, Lithuania, the UK, Germany and Argentina and 1 UAZ van take on the toughest challenge of driving the length of a frozen Lake Baikal – the largest body of fresh water on earth – an 830km journey on ice in the middle of the Siberian winter that breaks 2 Guinness World Records!

The Baikal Project Team at “The Baikal Mile 2020” Ice Speed Festival

The Baikal Project Team attend  “The Baikal Mile 2020” Ice Speed Festival as guests invited by the organisers.
The main idea of the event is to set speed records on a different types of vehicles on the ice surface of the deepest lake on Earth.
Baikal Mile 2020 Ice Speed FestivalOn three specially equipped ice tracks with a length of 1/8 mile and one mile each team gets the opportunity to fix the highest mark on the speedometers of their racing vehicles. Judges of the commission from Russia and USA, world-class athletes and Bonneville Speed week champions, as well as stunt riding, drifting, drag racing, flat track, freestyle moto extreme – all these activities happen at the same venue! And all this is “Baikal Mile”!

Alex, a film-maker, IFMGA – UIAGM certified mountain guide and a nomad from Bavaria. The last two years he lived in the highest coastal mountain in the world in northern Colombia making a feature documentary. He has filmed expeditions in Greenland, Kilimanjaro and all over the Alps. His films have been shown successfully at international film festivals and won awards.
