Day 3 On The Ice

🥶🥶🥶 DAY 3 ON THE ICE for The Baikal Project.

We leave the village on a frozen river this morning. ⛸😎 After another 130km the riders and crew reach Olkhon Island which means they have 400km behind them. 🥳👏 It also means they’re half way up Lake Baikal‼️👊 Temperatures have plummeted to – 21°C 🥶 with a biting northerly wind. Conditions get more challenging the further north we travel and the low temperatures start to affect our equipment. We have to deal with technical issues – batteries and wires give trouble – our helmet locking mechanisms freeze – a punctured tyre 🙄🤯

Watch as emotions run high this morning 🤯🤬🙉
There’s a flat tyre to be taken care of, icicles forming on Alex Hick’s face 🥶 and bad language till the cows come home … literally 🐄🐄🐄
Elsewhere there’s one man down 😱😵 practical jokes and acrobatics 🤸‍♂️🙃 But check it out for yourself! 🍿📽🤩

Tomorrow Team Baikal takes a down day to refuel and recharge 😅 – both crew and equipment – before we head further into no man’s land 🏜🤪 As we’re entering uninhabited territory, there’s a good chance we’ll get to try out our Bereg tents 😉😱🥶🐻
